M. Sc. Industrial chemistry is a fulltime two
year course of M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur. It is being run by the
department of chemistry as a Self financing course, under the directorship of Prof.
A.K. Goswami . The Course has been structured by eminent professors of
chemistry visualizing the present day need of chemists for industries
particularly chemical and pharmaceutical industry. The course contents are based
on methods of chemical analysis and production of chemicals being used by these
industries. The syllabus for the two year is designed covering methods of
chemical analysis (both routine as well as sophisticated) and sound theoretical
background of basic chemistry. Not only this a full paper on computer
application for chemists make the student competent in computer use.
In the M. Sc. previous course, two out of four paper are based on industrial and
chemical methods analysis covering all aspect of analytical chemistry needed for
R & D labs of any chemical industry. In the second year, chemical
engineering , environmental chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry courses are
taught to make the student conversant to the technology side &
practical include Analysis of industrial samples, basic methods used in
oil analysis,fuel analysis, ores, alloys, minerals and pharmaceuticals analysis.
An emphasis has been laid down on fundamentals of polymer chemistry both
theoretical as well as practical. Summarily the course of two year covers all
possible theoretical and practical training aspect required by a trained R &
D or production chemist, thus making the student competent to face challenge of
working as a research scientist/chemist in a modern chemical or Pharma
industry.The industrial training visits during two years further strengthen his
awareness of duties of a chemist.
