Rajasthan Architecture Festival, Jaipur_20-22 May 2022

The 3 day Rajasthan Architecture Festival was organised by The Indian Institute of Architects, Rajasthan Chapter in Jaipur. It is aimed to become an annual celebration travelling to various other cities of Rajasthan strengthening engagements with stakeholders, celebrating the rich architecture, heritage, art & culture of Rajasthan. The festival was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Also present with him was UDH minister, Shri Shanti Dhariwal. Faculties together with students from College of Architecture, MLSU, Udaipur participated in the event. Associate Prof. Dr. Apoorva Ajmera with Design Chair Ar. Rajendra Mantri, in a formal meeting with Ar. Habeeb Khan, President- Council of Architecture discussed the opportunities and challenges of the newly established college of architecture in the city. Assistant Prof. Ar. Ruchira Bhanawat hosted two technical sessions. The theme for the sessions were ‘Architecture Transformation’ & ‘Heritage Under Threat’ with eminent speakers from the fraternity, Prof. Abu Sayeed M Ahmed from Bangladesh, Ar. Rita Soh from Singapore, Prof K.B Jain from Ahmedabad, Prof. K.T Ravindran from Delhi. This panel discussion was followed by master speaker presentation by Ar. Gurjit Singh Matharoo from Ahmedabad and Ar. Sanjay Mohe from Bangalore. Prominent architects from Udaipur city also participated in the event. The Festival witnessed around 1500 delegates from around 26+ countries, discussing pertinent issues related to the theme, ‘Metamorphosis in architecture’. The main objective of the event, as explained by Ar. Tushar Sogani, the convener of the festival, was to become a medium to connect, communicate and grow in the field of architecture. The festival also showcased the architectural culture of Rajasthan though workshops, heritage walks, panel discussion, talks, exhibitions and cultural programs.
