Faculty Profile

Molecular Microbiology Laboratory is involved in extensive research in the field of Molecular and Applied Microbiology, Probiotic Technology and Environmental Biotechnology. Research is being carried out to investigate the potential of indigenous bacteria for probiotic potential, study local environmental issues to search for an effective biotechnological solution by the means of calcite solubilization, oil degradation, phosphate solubilization by heavy metal tolerant bacteria and studying diversity of lakes in Udaipur. The research team has contributed in publishing more than 65 research publications in journals of high repute, 9 books, 13 book chapters and participating in more than 50 conferences. Seven students have been awarded Ph.D. while five are currently working in the laboratory. The research group is recipient of more than 20 prestigious awards and got recognition by various Scientific Societies including Microbiologist Society India and DST, Rajasthan. Several research grants in the form of research projects, fellowships and grant for organizing conference have been awarded from various funding agencies including SERB, DST, New Delhi; RUSA, MHRD, New Delhi; UGC, New Delhi; CSIR, New Delhi and NASI, Rajasthan Chapter.
