Department of English

The Department of English is one of the major Departments in the faculty of Humanities. The department of Postgraduate Studies and research in English has been in existence since the very inception of the University. Beginning with basic  comes in English Literature, the  department diversified its areas into American Literature, Indian English Literature, Translation & Comparative  Literature and Gender Studies. Many eminent Visiting  Professors & scholars from  India  and abroad have been visiting the department & contributing to the  growth of the students  & the faculty.

To highlight the research activities  of  the  department, various seminars- regional, national  and  extension  lectures by eminent  scholars  have been  organized  on various aspects off  English Literature, Indian Writing in English, Post Colonial Writing & Comparative Literature.

The department   has adopted  the new model curriculum of UGC for UG,  PG Honors and M.Phil. courses. The Students have achieved  excellent results too in NET, SLET, RPSC  and RAS competitive examinations.
