As we go through our past history, our dept. is oldest one, established in 1937 in Maharana Bhupal Inter College . Later on it became U.G. College .First Art teacher who rendered services in the department was Sh. Surajmal Sharma .Later on in 1959, Sh. P.N. Choyal joined the department and he went for studying art at Slade school of Art, London- U.K. In 1962 he returned from the from the aboard .from the very beginning of the department it progressed immensely with the enthusiasm of teachers as well as students.
The Department has been headed by the Prof. P.N. Choyal, Prof. Suresh Sharma, Prof. O.D. Upadhayay, Prof. Shail Choyal & Prof. L.L.Verma. In 1995, Dr. Hemant Dwivedi, Dr. M.S. Rathore , Dr. D.V. Vashistha joined the department and continuing their contribution to be art teaching.
Prof. P.N. Choyal & Prof. Suresh Sharma have been honoured by National Lalit Kala Academy New Dehli, as senior fellow of Academy.
Our Department of Visual Arts (Former –Drawing & Painting) has been a major contributor in the field of Art & present art scene at regional as well National level, enough winning many prestigious awards and achievements bring the name of on this small town in forefront of National & International Art scene. With B.A. (3 Years) & M.A. (2 Years). We have started B.V.A. (bachelor of Visual Arts) in painting (professional 4 years degree course) from last five years.
Participation of our teachers on state, National & International level’s art exhibitions, art workshops, camps etc. shows an enthusiastic approach towards academic activities other than teaching and research.
The Department of Visual Arts organizes art Acadime Seminar & Art workshop, exhibitions and art awareness programmes with collaboration of Zonal cultural centers, Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy .Department students have been participating in various National Level workshops, Festivals. Students’ art works have been selected in National Lalit Kala Academies’, state lalit kala academies’ annual shows and won awards in student exhibitions, various art contests award.
Equidistantly, faculty members also participate in various art exhibitions & Shows. Our present faculty members also having National & State Level awards of art exhibitions time to time.
Infeact! Art awareness is our moto! 2 Triennial (world level contemporary art exhibition cum competition) awardees, 50 National awardees (awarded by National Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi & other National level agencies) more than 100 state awardees are descendant of this Department. |
